Firefox Mobile Version for Symbian Platform

Firefox Mobile (Fennec) developer is still focusing on the development for Linux and Windows Mobile platforms. But according to the Gartner statistics 49.8% smart phone market is dominated by Symbian, and right away Mozilla decided to start working on a Symbian version.

There are also several other platforms such as the iPhone, Rim (BlackBerry) and Android that will be popular ones, but these market will not be touched because the Mozilla license and or technical reasons.

Mozilla is targeting the completion of simple browsing features in February 2009 and full browsing features by the end of April 2009. Fennec Beta Version will be released soon after the full completion.

Steve Jobs Will Not Attend Macworld 2009

Apple announced on Wednesday that the year 2009 will be the last year for Apple to participate in the event of Macworld as an annually conference to discuss specifically a variety of Apple products. Furthermore Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple who always comes to open the event with his speech will not be present at the upcoming Macworld. Philip Schiller, senior VP international marketing division will represent Jobs to open Macworld 2009.

The official reason given that absence of Jobs in Macworld is because Apple is now reaching many people in more ways than before, as well as many other companies, the conference is only a small part of Apple programs to reach consumers.

The popularity of Apple retail stores that visited by more than 3.5 million people every week and Apple.com web  service allow Apple to directly reach hundreds of millions of visitors around the world with new innovative ways. In the last few years, Apple began to gradually reduce the participation in Macworld including Macworld New York, Macworld Tokyo and Apple Expo in Paris. (more…)

Video 1080p in Apple iPhone & Apple iPod

Imagination Technologies Group (ITG), developer of PowerVR MBX graphics technology used in iPhone, iPod Touch and other advanced mobile phones announced that Apple has purchased 8.2 million pieces company share. It gives Apple 3.6% ownership in the company. This transaction also confirmed that Apple will implement PowerVR technology on next Apple iPhone & iPod Touch.

PowerVR MBX used iPhone at this time is using the OpenGL ES 1.1 to provide extraordinary graphics capability. But ITG still have a more sophisticated technology that is PowerVR SGX & PowerVR VXD. They potentially improve the performance of iPhone graphics to the next level. SGX is compatible with the latest version of OpenGL ES 2.0 that resembles a shader engine to bring a realistic 3D graphics. Aside from that, SGX is also backwards compatible with MBX and more efficient. (more…)

Mac OS X Update 10.5.6

Update OS X version 10.5.6 is available for users Mac OS X Leopard. This version is the sixth update since Leopard was first released in October 2007 and as usual this update also comes with performance improvements, bugs and security fixing.

Apple has announced a list of changes brought to this OS X 10.5.6 update such as:
- Increased stability in the airport connection, address list synchronization with iPhone and other devices
- Repairs graphics distortion problems for users who use ATI graphics card.
- Automatically synchronize list of contacts, calendars and bookmarks within a few minutes after the change on the computer, or other devices from MobileMe.
- Improved performance of Apple File Service, especially for home directory hosted on AFP server
- Repairs the Time Machine problem in finding the location of backup file.
- Increased reliability Time Machine with Time Capsule
- Increased stability and performance of AT & T 3G card.
- Improvement in printing performance of Canon printers
- Support for Blu-ray video formats
- Add the Trackpad System Preference panel for Mac Laptop.
