Before you can fix your modem, you need to know what type of modem you have. In general, DSL modems are available in two variants: Ethernet and USB. An Ethernet modem connects to the computer using a cable network standard is most often blue-with RJ-45 jack (look very similar jack, only bigger). To use an Ethernet modem, you need to have a notebook or desktop with a network adapter, also called a network adapter.
